A modern electric boat moving silently through the water.
The familiar chug-chug-chug and the smell of diesel fumes are disappearing from the Amsterdam canals. The city has a goal: the entire canal ring must be emission-free by 2025.

  ## Why Paint it Green?
  * **Noise Pollution:** Electric boats are virtually silent. This is better for the residents living on the canals, but also for you—you can actually hear the guide!
  * **Air Quality:** No fumes means a fresher breeze on the water.

  ## Who is Electric?
Almost all new open boats/sloops are electric. The major operators (Lovers, Stromma) are rapidly converting their large glass-topped fleets. When booking, look for the "Electric" or "Zero Emission" badge. It makes for a much more peaceful tour.
